3.31.2011 update

Any questions regarding the following explanation,
including Eng reading or spelling errors (haha)
please email/FB/MSN/Gtalk me.

I did not plan to write this long,
However, I know many keep asking me the same questions.
I guess it’s a good chance to talk about it.

What Am I Doing Currently?
Finally got my EAD card (employment authorization document)
that means a legal right of working in States.
I was told for another waiting period (about 2 wks to 2 mos) over the phone
since I called for no result of my OPT application
which was supposed to be sent to me in Mid February.
Then, I suddenly got my EAD card without extra procedures that I was told to get done.

Good news is I can legally work in states since then.
Bad are I had only have less than 90 days for job hunting and
I can only work for less than a year.

The Returning day
Well...
now I can formally tell everyone who keeps asking my career plan and the returning day--
II will stay and work in States until next February as long as I can get a job before May.
After that, I will see if the working experience is great to me and
if I can get an employer applying a working visa for me.

If both yes, I will stay in States for uncertain years.
If any no (esp the 2nd one), I will come back to TW.

Why I decide to stay in States?
First, it's a financial issue.
I can save more money for my load
due to the currency exchange and different life expenses
even though I may get low paid as a master-level employer.

Second, it's working opportunities.
I am not eligible for the counseling license in Tw (but in States).
I won’t be a counselor until I make up the rest of requirements and pass the exam.
Even so, it does not mean counseling is a good job at least in the salary part.
I may be looking for a social work supervisor in the adolescence field
which is not always available.

Third, I have been curious for my potential.
In Tw, I got tons of privileges since I am the dominate group in the society,
such as one living in Taipei, coming from a middle class family, and so…
Sometimes, I can get something (a job, or eng ability) is not merely
because I work hard,
but because I was born with that or I can get those things easily.
In states, you can fight for yourself in everything.
It was not easy but fun.
I know I can do something well even in the country I was not coming from.
I, moreover, wonder how great I can be.

Don’t I miss Tw?
Definitely, I DO. Days and nights.
I miss family and friends.
I miss the old days.
I miss the food.
I miss the beautiful senses.
I miss the friendliness of Taiwanese.
However, when I choose to live in another country,
it doesn’t mean I don’t love you guys.

Luckily we now live in a web world.
You can reach me through email, instant messenger, FB and/or blog.
Internet does shorten the distance in some way.
Keep updating me your lives.

Where am I now?
I used to live in a city north Ohio
which is smaller than Tamsui though.
Now I moved to a city in Pennsylvania (賓州), named Pittsburgh (匹茲堡).
This is a big city,
which is even much hillier than Tamsui,
as convenient as Taipei and
as livable as Taichung.
I will update some photos in Pitt later on.
